We do this through a creative collaboration with building custodians, fellow professionals, specialist contractors and other stakeholders; having built long-standing working relationships with many of our clients, particularly in the field of cathedral and church work. We especially enjoy engaging with church communities to enable them to make the most of their historic places of worship.
Each project is unique and we tailor our approach to every site, seeking to understand each building’s story before proposing design solutions or conservation interventions.
Our team has wide and deep experience in building conservation and adaptation, with the majority of our architectural staff being conservation-accredited by national bodies such as the AABC Register and the RIBA Conservation Register.
Not limited to ecclesiastical work, our architectural skills are relevant to many other building types and we enjoy new challenges. We cover the full range of architectural work, from master-planning whole sites, to creating conservation strategies and finely-crafted individual designs.
Our clients are located across the south of the country, within around two hours of our office-base in Salisbury’s Cathedral Close. We have clients in South Wales, Gloucestershire, Somerset, Dorset, Wiltshire, Hampshire, Sussex, Surrey and London.
St Ann's Gate is a practice of highly skilled professionals who work together as a supportive and strong team. We were ambitious in what we hoped to achieve and the result exceeds what we could ever have hoped for.
As well as a superb practical outcome, which came in on budget, we now have a place of real beauty, of which we are so proud.
Our enthusiasms are for appropriate design solutions, be they for new work within historic environments or high quality architectural conservation. A sustainable approach to the creative use or re-use of buildings is the practice’s ambition and we strive to foster a respect for ancient fabric while allowing the buildings within our care to respond to today’s needs.
