Boxgrove Priory

« Back

The parish church at Boxgrove occupies what remains of the priory church; its transitional eastern arm is coeval with that of Portsmouth Cathedral and forms the greater part of the present building. The nineteenth century re-ordering had been largely de-constructed in the 1980s and in 2009 the removal of the rotten pew islands in the nave offered the opportunity to re-pave the church in Downs Vein stone from Purbeck in conjunction with the introduction of under-floor heating and the re-ordering of the sanctuary.
